HospMenu was a collaboration effort between hospital management, kitchens, dieticians, and database designers with a primary focus being on reducing risk to patients through lack of proper nutritional care and provision of inappropriate meals.

When a patient is admitted to a hospital they are allocated a diet type (General, Gluten Free, Vegan, Minced etc). A patient may also have allergies (Peanuts, Seafood, Eggs etc).

This is currently the ONLY system in the world that creates an individual patient menu based on the hospitals planned menu for the week, whilst automatically removing the meals that conflict with the named allergies. It also automatically adds any special extra items that the Dietician has assigned (such as sustagen or protein additives).

If a patient's requirements change during stay, their menu can be automatically remade to account for their new conditions.

All menus can be generated with imagery and in the primary language of the patient to limit risks of miscommunication.

Most hopsital catering systems are actually modified restraunt catering solutions. Hospmenu on the otherhands started as a joint project with members of SA Health. This difference of origion is reflected in some of the core features of Hospmenu most notable the fact each patient menu is actually fully customised to their requirements.

Most software solutions these days are hosted on the cloud. Whilst HospMenu is capable of being setup as such, it has been designed to live on a hospitals internal servers and intranets.

With such a setup, patient data can only be accessed as per each hospital's specific intranet access rules.

As HospMenu will most likely be linking into your hospital administration system via the HL7 interface, this needs to be installed for you. The administration software will be controlling the bed movements, admission, fasting, discharge and general diet and allergies.

All hospital administration software has been setup uniquely for the hospital and so, there is an installation process Accede will perform to make sure that this will interface correctly.

This takes a window of a few weeks of time to install, test and confirm. Once this has been setup, then the meals, stock, allergens and diets need to be entered. This will take a bit of time and training with your own staff. If you have been using a different product and are upgrading, then Accede can import and setup the data to suit your requirements.

Finally, confirming that the patients beds have access to the data so that they can enter their meals selections, will need to be tested and checked in association with your IT division. All of these areas are quoted in time, impact and expected outcomes prior to sale, so that the implementation process and effects are clearly understood by all parties.
